Pigeon pose is a great pose to practice when trying to conceive. For many of us with tight hips this pose is hugely challenging but it’s also fantastic for our fertility. So what to do? One way is to use props to help you align your body and allow you to stay longer in the pose with ease. A reason it’s so good for fertility is that it helps to loosen tight hip flexors which can pull the pelvis forward and make you have a sway back (quite common for those with fertility issues). When you gently work at softening and opening the hip flexors it brings the pelvis back into alignment, fresh blood can then flow to the reproductive organs, nourishing the whole system. Remember the breath is key. When you’re there take 5 slow breaths – inhale 2 counts exhale 4 counts. Do this 5 times and come out slowly. Notice how you feel.
